Jeff Hardy begins jail sentence

Jeff Hardy checked into jail in his native North Carolina on Monday, October 3 to serve his 10-day sentence, according to a report on TMZ.  This sentence stemmed from Hardy being sentenced on September 8 for a court case stemming all the way back to September 2009

When he checked in he was officially listed in court records as 6’1 and weighing 215 pounds.

According to the report it was indicated that Hardy wanted to get his jail time over as soon as possible and put it behind him.

He was originally arrested on September 11, 2009, when police found 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and drug paraphernalia after a search of his house. He was indicted on January 4, 2010. He faces five felonies, a misdemeanor charge and a conspiracy charge.

His original charges included:
- Felony possession of cocaine
- Felony drug trafficking of opium
- Felony possession with intent to redistribute a Schedule III drug (two counts)
- Maintaining a dwelling for drug use and/or distribution
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor)
- Conspiracy to traffic opium for trafficking four or more grams but less than fourteen grams of opium/heroin.

In addition to being sentenced to ten days in jail, Hardy 30 months of probation and a $100,000 fine.  This sentence is part of a plea deal that will keep him out of a much longer prison sentence.

He pled guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a single count of conspiracy to traffic in a substance containing opium, all of which are felonies.  He also agreed to remain in a drug abuse treatment program.  All other counts against Hardy were dropped, again due to the plea agreement reached.

Hardy is currently back on the road with TNA Wrestling.  He made his return at the August 25 Impact Wrestling television tapings in Huntsville, Alabama.  That was his return appearance after his dismal performance at the Victory Road back in March.  Since his return he has been portrayed as a “good guy” asking for forgiveness for his past transgressions.

In an unrelated incident, his brother Matt Hardy was released from TNA Wrestling after a DWI arrest on August 20.
