NASCAR superstar Jeff Gordon is blowing up on YouTube in a viral video linked to the behind the scene details of his extreme test drive at a car dealership. The details of the reality TV style Pepsi commercial is disclosed in a report on March 14, by the Los Angeles Times.
For the Pepsi commercial Gordon is fitted with a beard, mustache and wig, as not to be recognized. Gordon goes to a car dealership with a hidden camera. He asked the car salesman if he can test drive a 2009 Chevy Camaro, the salesman agrees and rides along with Gordon.
Gordon takes the car salesman on the test drive from hell. Gordon's extreme driving and tire screeching turns, inflicted by one of the greatest race car drivers in the world, leaves the salesman terrified.
The commercial is extreme and extremely funny as the car salesman is scared out of his wits and horrified by Gordon's maniacal driving skills.
The very funny commercial turns out to be staged. The car salesman is an actor and a professional stunt driver, Brad Noffsinger, who works with the Richard Petty Driving Experience, did the stunt driving, according to the report.
The video was produced by "Gifted You," in association with Will Ferrell's Funny or Die company.
Los Angeles Times reports, "The whole test drive was staged. The salesman is an actor. It wasn't an actual hidden camera look at a "Candid Camera" style prank."
