Jeff Foxworthy gets new TV show

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy will host a summer reality TV series, the CBS Television Network announced on March 5.

The show, titled “The American Baking Competition,” debuts on May 29. The hour-long program will air each Wednesday beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The show is based on the British television program, “The Great British Bake Off,” according to network officials.

The program "will feature skilled amateurs competing in baking challenges with one ultimately being crowned the winner," according to CBS.

Judges for the program are Paul Hollywood and Marcela Valladolid.

Foxworthy, 54, first achieved success as a stand-up comedian who entertained audience with jokes that began or ended with the phrase, “you may be a redneck.”

Among his TV credits are “The Jeff Foxworthy Show,” “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” and “The American Bible Challenge.”

He also headlined the popular Blue Collar Comedy Tour that developed into the television series, “Blue Collar TV.”

"He is the largest-selling comedy-recording artist in history," according to his website, "a multiple Grammy Award nominee and best-selling author of 11 books."
