TARZANA, Calilfornia – After being in a coma for more than two weeks, actor Jeff Conaway the star of “Taxi” and “Grease” has died at age 60.

Conaway was known to have a long history with substance abuse that was made public when he appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew Pinsky in 2008 and admitted then he was addicted to painkillers, cocaine and alcohol.

It was just a year ago when the star was seriously injured after falling down a staircase that broke his hip, arm, neck and suffered a brain hemorrhage.

The circumstances surrounding Conaway’s death are still being investigated.  However Conaway’s manager Phil Brock said said he died from an overdose of painkillers and other prescription drugs while trying to manage his ill health.

Some of the celebrities who knew Conaway are paying tribute to the man they knew and loved.  "Yet again another beautiful soul is wasted due to the growing problem of pharmaceutical addiction," Corey Feldman told E! News. "I have lost way too many friends because of irresponsible practices where doctors are overmedicating obvious addicts. It's horrific and disgusting! My heart goes out to Jeff's family, he was a wonderful human."
