Jeff Blashill set to lead Grand Rapids Griffins to another title

Jeff Blashill continues his coaching magic with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The one-time Ferris State hockey goalie who revitalized Western Michigan's hockey team in one year of coaching and then spent a year as a Detroit Red Wings assistant, can't seem to do anything wrong with the AHL team in Grand Rapids.
Last season when the took over the Griffins, Blashill led the team to the Calder Cup trophy as AHL champs. Don't be surprised if that doesn't happen again.
Wednesday the Griffins beat the Iowa Wild 2-1 in overtime at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. It was the 18th win of the Griffin's last 18 games.
The Griffins keep winning even though many of their main players were lost this week on callups to the Detroit Red Wings. Cory Emmerton had the game-wining goal against Iowa and Tom McCollum had 30 shots for his third straight win at goalie. He's 10-3.
Blashill has a tricky job because he keeps losing players and getting new ones. That's the life of a minor league hockey coach. But Blashill continues to have stunning success. It wont be long before he's a successful NHL coach.
