Jed Lowrie represents the only unsigned arbitration-eligible player for the Houston Astros after the noon (CT) deadline passed Tuesday for clubs and players to exchange salary figures.
Left-hander J.A. Happ and the Astros avoided arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to terms on a one-year, $2.35 million contract.
Catcher Humberto Quintero signed in December.
Lowrie, 27, was acquired by Houston via trade in December as part of the deal that sent Mark Melancon to the Boston Red Sox.
He hit .252 (78-for-309) with six homers, 36 RBI, 14 doubles, four triples and 40 runs scored in 88 games for Boston last season.
The Stanford University product has the option of going to an arbitration hearing in February, if an agreement isn't reached by then.
If a hearing takes place, the Astros and Lowrie's agent would present their particular case in front of an independent three-person panel.
Ultimately, the panel picks one of the salaries.
Lowrie, who's an arbitration-eligible player for the first time in his career, can still continue to negotiate with the Astros until a hearing.
He's hitting .252 with 19 homers, 117 RBI, 55 doubles, seven triples and 110 runs scored over four career major league seasons.
