Actually, saying, “In the name of King David, I threw a piece of raw meat in the street in exchange for my husband to the wild rabid dogs” is not quoting scriptures. However, hurling raw meat is just that…throwing meat and that’s exactly what happened on Sunday when Kerri Kasem, the daughter of the ailing radio icon Casey Kasem, arrived with an ambulance to transport her dad to a local hospital.
Jean Kasem, Casey’s wife, recently held court (a press conference) in which she played an audio of her husband moaning. “He’s crying, he’s a man of very few tears,” she said. Jean Kasem believes the courts are trying to “rip him away from his family” and added that he is an “American treasure who wanted to go out strong…he wanted to leave beautiful memories. That was all gone today.” She also feels her husband’s children should be ashamed for what they have done.
“I am not going to allow anybody to shred my family on unfound facts and malicious accusations,” the 59-year-old said during her recent press conference. “People in Hollywood come to us and ask us for marriage advice. We consider ourselves a Hollywood love story.”
Even Jean Kasem’s attorney Joel Paget told NBC, in part, “The only thing I will say now is that if I were as old as he was and in the condition he was, I would hope to have the care that his wife has been giving him.” Really? Be careful what you wish for.
Casey Kasem’s condition from Lewy body dementia is said to be so bad that he is unable to speak. There are also indications that he has a bladder infection, lung infection and body racked with multiple bed sores. Despite Jean’s efforts, paramedics were able to transport her husband to a hospital where he is listed as being in stable condition.
The Kasem family said they simply have no explanation for Jean Kasem’s bizarre behavior. When Casey’s 78-year-old brother Mouner and his wife Mary came from Michigan to visit him in January, Jean had them sign a confidentiality agreement they were supervised by a security guard.
These strange interactions are not just limited to family members either. A former caretaker won a $10,000 judgment claiming Jean, who accused the woman of stealing food and toilet paper, caused her emotional and mental distress.
Sometimes all you can do is shake your head.
