The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) benefited recently from The Elegance at Hershey. The Elegance at Hershey is a weekend-long series of vintage and collector car events each June at the historic Hotel Hershey®. In celebration of its 2013 success, The Elegance at Hershey Board of Directors and Executive Director Lisa Leathery were pleased to present checks totaling $150,000 to the JDRF, Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Library and Research Center, and the AACA Museum.
Organizers presented $25,000 to Chris Ritter, Librarian AACA Library & Research Center; $25,000 to Mark Lizewskie, Executive Director, AACA Museum; and $100,000 to Susan Harral, Executive Director JDRF- Central Pa Chapter, Beth Blasco, JDRF Branch Director of East Central PA. Representatives, MaryAnn Pruden Development Coordinator Central PA Chapter JDRF, and Ellen Rubesin, Regional Director Northeast Region JDRF.
The event, held annually in June, offers three days of amazing events, including a two-day vintage race, a 5K, and the opportunity to see some of the world's rarest vintage automobiles. The beautiful backdrop for all of these events is the history Hotel Hershey®. All weekend activities drive home with one united purpose; to raise funds for the selected charities.
"We are very fortunate to have strong supporters within the community such as Midlantic Machinery, McCarthy Tires, Cleveland Brothers, M&T Bank, PPL Energy, Philadelphia Trust Co, and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts." said Leathery. "Without their support we would not be able to achieve nor continue to provide such significant support to these charities."
More information on The Elegance at Hershey can be found at www.TheEleganceAtHershey.com. The event was established to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes and to protect the rich resource of our automotive heritage. All donations are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. The Elegance at Hershey 2014 weekend of events is scheduled for 13-15 June 2014.
