Police in Lakewood, Wash., are investigating the stabbing death of 20-year-old Tevin A. Geike, a South Carolina Soldier, stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Shortly after bar-closing time, this morning, Oct. 5, Geike was walking with two other white Soldiers in the 12500 block of Pacific Highway Southwest.
Reportedly, a car with five black men pulled alongside the Soldiers and began hurling anti-white racial slurs. Words were exchanged; the men got out of their car and surrounded the Soldiers.
Sadly, the encounter left the North Charleston, S.C., Soldier dead of multiple stab wounds.
The public affairs officer at Joint Base Lewis-McChord stated that Geike and the other two Soldiers were members of the 7th Infantry Division. With less than three years in the Army, Geike had yet to be deployed to a combat area.
Police are still looking for the five, 20-something, black suspects who are said to be driving a midnight blue sedan, with tinted windows that is possibly a Volkswagen Jetta or BMW.
Anyone with information on these suspects, or the car they were driving, is urged to call the Lakeland Police Department at 253-798-4721.
