As we usher in 2014, I would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, prosperous and exciting new year. To kick off the jazz events for the year, we start with Jazzy Fryday at Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles. The Jazzy Fryday and the Drama Ministry of Second Baptist Church presents A Jazz Series of Vignettes in honor of Nat King Cole on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 7pm. The shows stars Pamela D. Elkins and Bryan Pugh. Jazzy Fryday is presented on the third Friday of the month. The address is 2412 Griffith Avenue in Los Angeles.

The remaining shows in this series include: Carmen McRae on Friday, February 21, 2014, starring: Mary Flowers. The next show is Pearl Bailey on Friday, March 21, 2014, starring: Diane Myrick and Donna Pugh. Eartha Kitt on Friday, April 18, 2014, starring: Niketa Calame and the remaining show is Sarah Vaugh on Friday, May 16, 2014, starring: Vickilyn Reynolds. You can RSVP to 323-216-0230 before the deadline of Wednesday, January 15th for the Jazzy Fryday show scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2014.

Admission for the shows are $12.50 in advance and $15.00 at the door and that includes a fish dinner. The historic Second Baptist Church is the oldest African American baptist church in Los Angeles.
