Jazz Wilkins crowned Miss Georgia USA 2012

Georgia on Sunday chose its delegate to the Miss USA 2012 pageant.

Jazz Wilkins, a graduate of Wesleyan School in Norcross who has attended Clemson University, was crowned in ceremonies at the Woodland Performing Arts Center in Cartersville.

Her crowning makes her eligible for additional scholarship opportunities.

The Miss USA 2012 pageant is scheduled for next summer at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

If she wins the Miss USA pageant, she will represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2012 pageant.

The final night of the pageant will be broadcast live on the NBC television network.

The Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants are jointly owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal.

Also part of the pageant system is Miss Teen USA.

Courtney Smits, a pageant veteran, was crowned Miss Georgia Teen USA on Sunday.

She has appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue and been a pageant contestant since childhood.
