Chris Botti (pronounced boat-tee), American trumpeter and composer, will be playing at Harrah's on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9 p.m. Known for smooth jazz sounds, Botti will please jazz afficionados and folks who just want to get away and relax.
Raised in Corvallis, Oregon, Botti began playing the trumpet at nine years old and fell in love with it at 12 when he heard Miles Davis play. He played at Carnegie Hall as a member of the McDonalds All American High School Jazz Band and went on to college with his trumpet, becoming a grantee of the National Endowment for the Arts.
Chris has toured, recorded and played with all the big name artists of several generations, including Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Paul Simon, Michael Buble, Andrea Bocelli and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, just to name a few. Botti and his band have even performed in worldwide venues such as the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. (Continues below)
Botti's smooth style of playing and his exciting stage shows have brought many fans of pop music over to the jazz side of the fence. In 2004, he was voted one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People.
Chris Botti has produced and/or recorded 13 albums since 1995. His latest, This is Chris Botti, released in 2011. The featured clip is Chris playing My Funny Valentine, the Miles Davis song that inspired his musical career.
