Jazz Search West set for March in East Bay

March will bring Jazz Search West to Northern California. Here is the lowdown.

Jazz Search West 2014, the Bay Area's jazz talent search for adults and teens 15 and up, will offer four competitions at jazz venues in the East Bay during the month of March.
Contestants will perform at the venue of their choice in front of a panel of judges chosen from Bay Area Jazz professionals and a supportive live audience. At the end of each competition, four finalists will be selected to move on to the semifinal at the Freight and Salvage and then on to the final at Yoshi's in Oakland. Three top winners will be chosen to win prizes designed to enhance their musical careers.
The panel of judges includes Faye Carol, Kellye Gray and Glen Pearson. A professional rhythm section trio will be provided each night with musicians such as Marcus Shelby, Mark Lee, Walter Bankovitch, and Peter Barshay.
There is an entry fee for contestants of $40. Each week's event is open free of charge to the public.
Jazz Search West's mission is to help invigorate the Bay Area Jazz community with enthusiasm and excitement for jazz. Jazz Search West is brought to you by Living Jazz, the producers of Jazz Camp West. Now in its 31st season, Jazz Camp West is an eight-day jazz immersion program for instrumentalists, vocalists and dancers of all age and skill levels, held in the beautiful redwoods of Northern California.
