This is a going to be a terrific weekend in Southern California. The weather will be warm and sunny, the birds are singing and there is jazz music in the air. Tonight you can catch a variety of artists playing at venues in the southland. Chris Mello will be performing at El Camino College Center for the Arts at 7:00 pm. Brandon Bernstein Duo is scheduled for a 7:15 pm show at Red, White and Bluezz in Pasadena. Pancho Sanchez the legendary conga player will hit the stage at Vitello's Jazz and Supper Club in Studio City. Also at 7:30, the Richie Cole Quartet will have a CD release party at the Radisson Hotel in Los Angeles.
At 8:00 pm there will be some outstanding musicians playing. Guitat Norman Brown will play at the Cerritos Center for the Arts in Cerritos. Saxophonist Shilts will share his talents at Spaghettini Italian Grill and Jazz Club in Seal Beach. Strunz and Farah will perform at Catalina Bar and Grill in Los Angeles. On Sunday, May 1, 2011 the Playboy Jazz Festival will present the first in a series of free jazz concerts at the Beverly Hills Civic Center Plaza from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. The location is 450 N.
