Jazz it up at Tommy O's in Vancouver, Washington

See also

Vancouver, just across the I-5 bridge from Portland, Oregon is full of special finds. On Sunday evenings one of these discoveries is the Jazz Jam at Tommy O's in downtown Vancouver.

Tommy O's has both a restaurant and bar (connected). They are known for their Hawaiian inspired Asian fusion foods. In the bar, there are surfboards on the walls and island type appetizers. But what is special is the Sunday Jazz event. Tom Grant, noted Jazz pianist and vocalist, takes the lead in an early-evening Jazz jam that gets better and better as the evening progresses.

The jam runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. most Sundays. There is a bar menu with $3 to $5 drinks and appetizers. Go early for a seat at a table or the bar. It gets crowded.

You never know who will show up to play. And you never know what they will play. Vocalists bring sheet music as they step to the mike. Sax players just join in. It all makes for fun and surprises and marvelous, ever-changing jazz music.
