Jazz is in the air at Brookdale

When the singer at Brookdale Community College's Art Deco took the stage, the audience had to pick their jaws up off the floor. The double bassist was sure to do his best to keep those jaws on the ground, setting up the guitarist for a solo that simply needed to be heard with your own ears.

February 11 was the night in Lincroft New Jersey that was like no other. It was jazz night in the Performing Arts Center and the band would have put a smile on some of the great jazz musicians’ faces' if they were in that sold out room. Even if Louis Armstrong was with the crowd that formed outside because they could not get in but still wanted to sneak a peek or snatch a note, would have enjoyed him.

Art Deco proved to be a better success than any of the stage hands could have imagined. With a group of it least 30 people outside the door, for the next concert they need to come prepared with more chairs or a bigger venue because the people will be there.

The next scheduled concert at the Performing Arts Center on Sunday March 25 at 7pm, is the Faculty Concert. Which is free to Brookdale Students, this will prove to be a monumental night for the PAC because of possibly one man; Gary Mazzaroppi. He is Brookdale's history of jazz teacher and has himself played with Les Paul for many years. Needless to say he knows his way around the jazz scene.

Big Band is the concert that everyone has and will be talking about in the future. Held on Saturday March 31 at 7pm. Admission to Brookdale students is 5 dollars. The advice here is to simply to get there and get there early because this is a night that you will not want to miss whether you listen to jazz or not.
