Jazz & Heritage Foundation Community Outreach tickets for low-income residents

Although we're in the throes of Carnival Season right now that doesn't mean that New Orleans residents and visitors alike can't start planning for all of the other great festivals coming up this year.

One of which, of course, is the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival taking place this year from April 27-29 and May 3-6 at the Fair Grounds race track.

Since its foundation more than four decades ago, Jazz Fest has been an integral part of New Orleans' community featuring not only the musical culture of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana, but also some of the biggest national musical acts as well.

Some of the performers scheduled for 2012 are Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Irvin Mayfield & the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Dr. Michael White & the Original Liberty Jazz Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Delfeayo Marsalis' Uptown Orchestra, The Beach Boys for their 50th Anniversary Reunion, Herbie Hancock, Eddie Vedder, the Eagles, The Neville Brothers, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Al Green, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers,  Buckwheat Zydeco, Foo Fighters, Bonnie Raitt, and so many others it's almost dizzying.

And for many years now The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation has wanted to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the festivities.  Supporting community involvement in Jazz Fest the Foundation distributs thousands of free tickets through social service agencies to those who otherwise could not afford to attend the festival.  The tickets are provided to nonprofit, educational, religious, government and community agencies which then distribute them to low-income Louisiana residents.
