Ken Slayton, 63 claims to be Jaycee Dugard’s biological father is asking for a paternity test and reunion with Jaycee. Slayton has asked for a private meeting with Dugard, and a confidential exam to determine whether he is her father.
"He wants nothing from her," said his attorney Gloria Allred. "What they really want to do is love her."
The attorney states that Terry Probyn, Jaycee Dugard's mother and Slayton dated for a month in 1979 before Probyn was pregnant with Jaycee; and Probyn never told him she had the baby.
Erika Schulte, a spokes woman for the Dugard family said this is the first time they have been contacted by Slayton since Dugard was found. "This all comes as a big surprise," Schulte told the LA Times.
Jaycee Dugard was 11 when she was kidnapped held captive in a hidden in a backyard of tents and sheds. Police allege that Nancy and Phillip Garrido kidnapped Jaycee Dugard, and Phillip Garrido fathered her two daughters.
Dugard's lawyer McGregor Scott said Thursday,"She fully understands that if there is a trial, she will be a witness, and she fully understands that some terrible things were done to her and the people who did those things need to be held accountable, which is why she is fully cooperating with law enforcement and prosecutors," Scott told The Associated Press.
Scott is a former U.S. attorney who is representing Jaycee Dugard and her family for free, said the Jaycee initially had mixed emotions about the arrest of her alleged captors.
Jaycee Dugard, 29 and her daughters, 11 and 15, are getting psychological help, medical and dental care, and working on basic things such as getting birth certificates for the girls, according to Scott.
"The law enforcement folks have been treating her and her daughters with the utmost decorum and respect, and have done a very nice job of balancing the demands of their investigation with Jaycee's need and the girls' need for space and privacy," Scott told the AP.
Scott said that the trust fund that was set up for donations has raised a significant amount of money that may give them a financial cushion.
A related case, Elizabeth Smart in Salt Lake City, Utah was held by her capturers for about one year, and found alive in 2003. That case has yet to be tried because the alleged kidnapper is mentally incompetent and refuses to take medication.

Comments
My name is incorrect in the quote above. I am Erika Schulte. Not Erika "Slayton". Please correct. Thank you.
Hi Erika...corrected. Perhaps you can tell us what Jaycee is going to do about the test that Slayton has requested?
Thanks for the correction. The family has no plans to respond to Mr. Slayton's comments at this time.
I think what Slayton is doing is really innappropriate at this time. And bringing Gloria Allred into this just really steams me. Jaycee needs to be with the family she was taken away from, the one she already knows. There will always be time in the future for her to know people she has never met but this would not be comfortable for her and her daughters right now and Slayton and Allred need to respect that.
