The singer’s musical collaboration with hip hop rapper Jay Z gave birth to another hit single “Holy Grail” whose music video, directed by Anthony Mandler, debuted Thursday night on Jay Z’s Facebook page, a first for a major artist to debut a music video through social media.
The song, available only for 24 hours since being posted Thursday night, is now being shared on the rapper’s Facebook site. Jay Z reportedly has over 17 million fans on his Facebook page.
Interestingly, the quite melodic, quite “moody” song contains lyrics from “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, one of the breakthrough songs of the famous 90’s grunge band Nirvana.
“Holy Grail” which features Timberlake is part of Jay Z’s 12th studio album, the chart topping “Magna Carter Holy Grail”.
The musical collaboration between Timberlake and Jay Z is not their first as the duo have already teamed up and released a single together titled “Suit and Tie” which came out in January of this year. The song was included in Timberlake’s third studio album “The 20/20 Experience” which was set to be Timberlake’s major comeback album after being inactive as a singer for 6 years.
