Sources with ties to Jay Leno revealed to Entertainment Examiner on Monday that the venerable late night talk show host may turn up next season on ABC's popular "Dancing with The Stars" reality series. Although the current season has just begun, producers from ABC plan subsequent seasons long in advance. And, if sources are accurate, Jay Leno has been on the radar for quite some time.
"Jay Leno's nightly routine as host of The Tonight Show is the biggest scheduling impediment," the source reveals. "I think even NBC would like to see one of their biggest stars on one of ABC's biggest hits. It's just a scheduling conflict that makes it so tough."
Jay Leno, long proclaimed the hardest working comedian in show business, not only hosts The Tonight Show on NBC five days a week, he also writes a great deal of the show's material and often works 12 to 16 hours days - not a routine that leaves much time for dancing.
Between the reality series' rigorous training sessions to the live broadcasts, participating on Dancing with the Stars would represent an epic commitment on the part of Leno and NBC, which would have to employ reruns more regularly to accommodate the reality series' schedule.
But despite the seemingly onerous burdens that such an endeavor would cause NBC and Jay Leno, sources say it can't be ruled out.
"Jay Leno has an open invitation to appear on 'Dancing with the Stars.'"
