Even though Jay Cutler spent much of the regular season out with an ankle injury, he sure won't be getting the Peyton Manning treatment. According to CBS Chicago on January 2, Bears fans will be getting another 7-years of Cutler as their quarterback.
According to the report, Cutler's contract is a beauty. The star quarterback looks to earn a total of $126 million with $54 million of that amount guaranteed.
With Jay Cutler and Josh McCown both coming up on free agency at the end of the season, there had been much speculation. Now, with Cutler locked down, the focus is on McCown. Will he stay or will he go?
According to Bears general manager Phil Emery, they want Josh McCown to stay too. Last year McCown was signed to a one year deal for just the veteran's minimum salary. They won't be able to resign him again until March 11 when the next season begins.
Now we already know that Josh McCown is no Cutler but with all the needs in the league, he is certainly worth more than the minimum right? And will he be willing to sit back and be second best? Time will tell but there is a good chance that Josh McCown may leave for greener pastures.
