Should the minimum wage be $10.10 an hour. The owners of Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlour in Dania Beach believe so. They raised their minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. The pay increase will benefit more than 70 personnel including busboys, waitresses, waiters, and fountain workers, all of whom will receive a minimum of $10.10 an hour and the restaurant will make up the difference for tipped workers if their wages are less than $10.10 an hour, according to an article by Marcia Heroux Pounds in the February 12 Sun Sentinel.

During the recent State of the Union address, President Barack Obama called for a minimum wage pay increase of $10.10 an hour. The present national minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and the Florida minimum wage is now $7.93 an hour. Most people would experience difficulty living on $7.93 an hour and many businesses would find it difficult to attract workers, especially talented and skilled workers at $7.93 an hour. Some people believe that an increase in the minimum wage will make it harder for young and experienced workers to get a first job. Others believe that the minimum wage should be increased so that working people who work at lower levels in organizations can enjoy a higher standard of living.
