Jasper’s Café in Medford is offering a special opportunity for giving and sharing our good fortune with others. December 20 is Friendsgiving day. Here's the fun: When you show up at Jaspers and order your food….your meal is paid for! Someone before you bought your meal for you…now….will you pay your meal forward to the next guy…?
Any extra money that you pay above and beyond your tip….is given to the Salvation Army….
It will be a great day at Jaspers to raise money for the needy via the Salvation Army.
This is a great idea to go along with the Season of Giving. Not only do people have a chance to share with others in the community, they can help the Salvation Army at the same time. It is an all-around feel good project and a creative way to come up with donations.
The concept of paying it forward is not new.
Benjamin Franklin in a letter to Benjamin Webb wrote,” I do not pretend to give such a deed; I only lend it to you. When you [...] meet with another honest Man in similar Distress, you must pay me by lending this Sum to him; enjoining him to discharge the Debt by a like operation, when he shall be able, and shall meet with another opportunity. I hope it may thus go thro' many hands, before it meets with a Knave that will stop its Progress. This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money.”
Jasper’s Café has grown since 1976 when they began serving Casper’s hot dogs in Medford.
Under the ownership of John and Janet, the menu has expanded to include gourmet burgers that get constant raves from customers and win Reader’s Choice awards from the Mail Tribune. The menu features delicious lean beef burgers and wild game meats such as bison, elk, wild boar, Himalayan "blue" antelope, kangaroo, water buffalo and Kobe beef.
The combinations of items for burgers offer 40 different menu items that will not be found anywhere else. It is great that John and Janet expanded their choices of food to include the opportunity for people in the community to share with each other and celebrate the unique quality of life we enjoy in the Rogue Valley.
Pop into Jaspers on Dec 20th and pay it forward on Friendsgiving day.
