New on the scene located at the Serrano Hotel on Taylor is Jasper’s Corner Tap & Kitchen. Most remember the space as the former home to Ponzu, a local favorite that specialized in that former food trend we called Asian fusion. Jasper's, in keeping with the latest trend, features bar/pub fare complimented by beers on tap and an impressive cocktail menu.
The décor is earthy and casual, with a long curving bar, high barstools surrounding communal tables and a few booths tucked in. Jasper’s is a great place to have an assortment of small bites with drinks, ideal for pre or post theater dining. Start with one of the house specialties, the trio of deviled eggs, $4.00. Current flavors include romesco, Caesar salad and garden vegetable. Order them in multiples—they are very addictive. The house salad ($4.00) is a delicious and generous mix of Star Route greens, marcona almonds, golden raisins and honey mustard vinaigrette. Complete this with a tangy beef slider or two or three ($3.00 ea.) topped with Shropshire blue cheese on a sesame pretzel bun. Want more? The fries are thin, hot and crispy—ask for the house aioli to dip!
Quench your thirst with no less than 24 beers on draught. Taste several by ordering a half serving or enjoy a pre-selected flight.
