Jason Wu, Michelle Obama’s Inaugural gown designer, announced last week the style expert would be uniting with Lancôme for his first ever makeup collection.
The fashion designer of now two of the First Lady’s Inaugural gowns is having a stellar 2013 so far, beginning the year with the launch of his contemporary women’s clothing collection containing a 1960’s flair at Nordstrom, having Michelle Obama choose another of his designs for the President’s Inauguration and this latest announcement regarding the limited edition collection of color cosmetics in collaboration with Lancôme.
Both beauty giant and hot fashion designer are thrilled in uniting for Jason Wu’s makeup collection. Silvia Galfo, senior vice president of marketing for Lancôme told “Women’s Wear Daily” the collaboration complements one another with both having similar “sensibilities”, which “embody a modern, elegant and stylish woman”, lending to the possibility of a more extensive cosmetics collection in the future.
Jason Wu elaborated further; telling “WWD” the Lancôme brand encourages women to embrace their own beauty rather than imposing a model of what the concept should be.
Beauty has always been extremely important to the Jason Wu label and I’ve made it an integral part of my fashion shows. What was so intriguing about partnering with Lancôme, beyond the unparalleled quality and luxury of their products, is the notion that the brand doesn’t impose a model of beauty but rather invites women to embrace themselves. This is the embodiment of a truly modern, sexy and confident woman, much like the women I design for.
Jason Wu’s limited edition Lancôme makeup collection will hit cosmetic counters in September and can be found on Long Island at Nordstrom in the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, along with the designer’s Miss Wu line.
