On a recent trip to Jason's Deli at The Forum, this Examiner discovered they have started selling the commercial size (33 oz. 20 slice loaf) Udi's Whole Grain bread for $11.99. Jason's uses the larger sized loaves for their gluten-free sandwiches. This is a large loaf of bread (comparable to the wheat-based ones at the grocery store) with more slices that has not been available for retail sale previously.
This really is a great deal if you think about it because a normal small loaf with the smaller pieces sells for an average of $5 per loaf. The bread is available in their drink/dessert case right at the front of the store where you place your order. You can also purchase a frozen loaf that they will bring out from the back.
It felt so wonderful to buy a normal sized loaf of bread with large slices. This Examiner will be able to make a grilled ham and cheese sandwich that will actually fill me up and the lunch meat won't hang over the edges. In my opinion, the normal sized slices make such a small sandwich for an adult.
According to the manager we spoke to, all of their Atlanta-area locations are selling the bread and they just started doing so recently. Jason's Deli has a number of locations in Atlanta, so find the one closest to you and stop by to pick up a loaf!
Wonder if this means the larger sized loaves will be in distribution soon and available at local grocery/health food stores???
