Jason Reitman taps Adam Sandler for next project, starts shooting in Austin

Paramount Pictures this week announced that Jason Reitman’s followup to “Labor Day” is already filming. The big-screen adaptation of Chad Kultgen’s novel Men, Women & Children began principle photography this week in and around Austin, TX. Reitman wrote the screenplay with Erin Cressida Wilson, who wrote the adapted screenplay for the surprisingly good thriller “Chloe”(2009).

“Men, Women & Children” stars Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, Rosemarie DeWitt, Judy Greer, and Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris. Emma Thompson narrates the tale, which explores the Internet and the social change it presents, using families with teenagers as the conduit. The film sounds like a departure for Sandler: he hasn’t taken a role with dramatic overtones since Judd Apatow’s “Funny People” four years ago.

While Jason Reitman’s latest film “Labor Day” has yet to be released nationwide, the film is already making headlines. Earlier this month, Kate Winslet received a Golden Globe nomination for her leading role in the drama, which also stars Josh Brolin. “Labor Day” will see a limited release next week, and is set to open wide in January.
