Jason Reitman's latest film named, cast

Paramount Pictures has announced that they will distribute Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated director Jason Reitman’s next film, “Labor Day.”  The studio will also co-produce the film with the Indian Paintbrush production company, an organization that had their hands in the distribution of “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and two films scheduled to screen at the 47thChicago International Film Festival kicking off this week: “Like Crazy” and “Jeff Who Lives At Home.”  The relatively young production company doesn’t appear to have a website, but has a listing on the Internet Movie Database(IMDB) website.  No release date has been announced for the project.

“Labor Day” is based on a Joyce Maynard novel about an escaped convict that ends up hiding from the law with a single mother and her son.  Josh Brolin will play the convict and Kate Winslet will take on the role of the single mother.  Like Reitman, both actors are no strangers to end-of-the-film-year accolades.  Kate Winslet won both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for her lead role in “The Reader” in 2008.  Josh Brolin was nominated for a 2009 Oscar for his supporting work in “Milk.”

Fans of Reitman will be glad to know that they will not have to wait until “Labor Day” to see the director in action.  Reitman’s most recent release “Young Adult” will hit theaters on December 9, and will star Charlize Theron.
