Reporting this development, the May 12, 2010 online edition of Variety adds that Daniel Sunjata will appear in the role of the veteran bounty hunter, Ranger. Julie Ann Robinson will direct the film; Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Sidney Kimmel and Wendy Finerman will produce.
Jason O'Mara most recently starred as Detective Sam Tyler in the ABC television series "Life on Mars" (2008-2009). Daniel Sunjata appeared in the Lifetime Television Network's adaptations of Patricia Cornwell's Win Garano series, The Front (2010) and At Risk (2010) as Massachusetts State Police investigator Win Garano.
As reported earlier, Katherine Heigl will star as Stephanie Plum, an unemployed divorcee who accepts a job in her cousin's Trenton, New Jersey bail bond business. Her first assignment entangles her in the life of Joe Morelli, a former high-school flame, who is now a murder suspect.
Lionsgate recently acquired the U.S. distribution rights for One for the Money from Lakeshore Entertainment. Comingsoon.net provides this comment from Lakeshore's CEO Tom Rosenberg on the film, which is scheduled to begin production in July 2010:
Janet Evanovich has created an extraordinary literary character in Stephanie Plum. Katherine Heigl is the perfect actress to bring Stephanie to the screen. Gary Lucchesi and I are thrilled to be reunited with her after our wonderful experience on 'The Ugly Truth.' This is our second collaboration with Sidney Kimmel and we are looking forward to many more. Having worked on several films with Lionsgate over the years, we know that 'One for the Money' is in the best possible hands.
Janet Evanovich began her Stephanie Plum series in 1994. Sizzling Sixteen, the 16th title in the series, is due out on June 22, 2010. In her Stephanie Plum Between the Numbers series, Evanovich gives Stephanie's adventures a paranormal twist when she encounters the supernaturally gifted Diesel. Evanovich will release a new title, Wicked Appetite, from her Unmentionables series on September 14, 2010.

Terrible casting!!!!!!!!!
What are they thinking?
This guy looks nothing like Morelli should. He is described as being movie star handsome, age 32 with black hair and very dark eyes, lean and wiry. This guy is NOT young enough or handsome enough and frankly, if they had to choose an Irishman Colin Farrel would have been, hands down the best choice. Physically he absolutely fits and has the skills to do Morelli justice.
Really, fans of the books are VERY upset by Heigl and this guy being cast, perhaps the casting director and producers should scope out the chit-chat going on before they make this monumental mistake.
If they are going to film a book or books with this many fans you'd think they would want to do it right. This will be a horror. People are not happy with this news or with the news of Heigl either who, BTW is too tall, too girlie to be Steph.
RU kidding me? Jason O'Mara is one of the most handsome guys around! Open your eyes.....He has gorgeous BLUE eyes and they can dye his hair......it's called ACTING for a REASON!!!
And btw....Katherine Heigl is gorgeous and will be awesome in this role......they probably will color her hair darker and play down her girlie girl looks.......but who cares if they don't????
I can't wait to see these 2 stars together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! They have hidden JASON for way too long! I loved him in Life on Mars. What a great show and greater writing. The ending was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! Kudos to the writers.......Ending was completely different than the BBC version. SO MUCH BETTER!!!
