Jason Mraz or PSY: music doesn’t get any better than this

Great music is usually founded in great instrumental playing or great lyrics or a combination of both.

Generally the force of the song is pronounced either through the instruments or the verses, but Jason Mraz’s 2012 hit “I Won’t Give Up” has the perfect combination of both.

And although the official music video has less than a quarter of the billion plus views that PSY’s "Gangnam Style" has, the music coupled with powerful visual elements is by far more of a work of art!

Of course, the two songs are as different as their perspective audiences and as different as the artists themselves despite some key similarities.

Both Mraz and PSY are 35 and both began their musical careers at age 23, but Mraz appears to be more mature – musically that is.

The song, "I Won’t Give Up," is much deeper lyrically than PSY’s top of the charts "Gangnum Style," and to see and hear Mraz perform, you quickly know that to Mraz it’s about the music and he is in it for the long haul.

PSY, on the other hand, is entertaining, but there is something lacking – unless, of course, you are looking for a quick beat without lyrical depth.

Despite Mraz’s shortfall of YouTube views, he ranks right at the top for 2012 with “I Won’t Give Up.”
