The stars came out last night to honor Bruce Springsteen at the 2013 MusiCares Person Of The Year gala. A wide range of musicians, comedians and actors attended the gala dinner and concert including Jason Mraz, Johnny Depp, Katy Perry, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien, John Stamos, Kathy Griffin, Rita Wilson and more. Performers that night included Elton John, Sting, Neil Young, John Legend, Patti Smith, Jackson Browne, and of course, Bruce Springsteen.
Bruce Springsteen was accompanied by his wife, Patti Scialfa, his mother, Adele, sister, Pamela, and children Evan James and Jessica Rae Springsteen. Another star who made it a family affair was Jason Mraz who brought his mother, June Tomes. Katy Perry, dressed in a glowing orange gown, appeared without current beau, John Mayer.
A charity auction was held at the event with Bruce Springsteen briefly serving as auctioneer. AP reported that Bruce offered concert tickets and backstage passes to one of his shows, an autographed guitar, a personal guitar lesson and a ride on his Harley Davidson which together brought in $250,000 for the MusiCares charity.
This dinner gala and concert held every year the week before the GRAMMYS honors an artist for his or her philanthropic endeavors. Bruce Springsteen was honored "in recognition of his extraordinary creative accomplishments as well as his significant charitable work" over the years. Past recipients include Paul McCartney and Barbra Streisand.
