Jason Mraz gets engaged to former and current girlfriend, Tristan Prettyman

It's a Merry Christmas for Jason Mraz and Tristan Prettyman who got engaged on December 23 (Date corrected - see below).  Yesterday, Jason Mraz sent out a tweet that said: "She Said Yes." A few hours later, Tristan Prettyman, who has tweeted frequently about Mraz over the last 6 months, wrote: "I did good! holy crap! man of my dreams!!! for the rest of my life!!!"

While this time around the couple has only been together since this past Spring, first seen in public at the 2010 ASCAP awards in April, they have a long history together. Mraz was romantically involved with singer/ songwriter Prettyman previously from 2004 to 2006.

Mraz and Prettyman met in 2001 and became friends while she was the opening act for Mraz during a concert tour. It took them a while to take their relationship to the next level due to self-admitted shyness. In 2005, they recorded a song about their shyness with each other in the duet "Shy That Way" for Prettyman's debut album, Twentythree. However, in 2006, the couple parted ways.

Jason Mraz seems to have been itching to get married in the past few years. In 2009, he told E! online: "I think I may have found the one" when he was dating Tawney Bevacqua. Mraz was accompanied by Bevacqua at the Environmental Media Association Awards in October 2009. The couple abruptly split up in January 2010.

Mraz then reunited this Spring with Prettyman who had released her second album, Hello, in April 2008. Last weekend, the couple performed their unreleased song "All I Want For Christmas Is Us" at the Feeding the Soul CD release party in San Diego.

This will be Jason Mraz's second marriage. In 2001, he was briefly married to makeup artist Sheridan Edley.

[Update: Jason and Tristan got engaged on December 23 (not the 24th as originally reported). Jason explained why the 23rd was so important to the couple on his blog on December 28, 2010.]
