Jason Momoa to play Aquaman in highly anticipated 'Batman v Superman' film?

After many rumors it seems to be official, the actor who gave life to Khal Drogo, Jason Momoa, has signed to play the role of Aquaman in " Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice." Momoa has been negotiating with Warner Bros. Pictures since December and Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon, according to Hitfix.

Newsmax reported today that Momoa won't play a major role in the film, which features the characters of Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). The premiere of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has been announced for May 6, 2016.

Jason Momoa has risen to fame in recent years due to his portrayal of Khal Drogo in the acclaimed "Game of Thrones" HBO series and though the character of Aquaman is one of the most despised of the Marvel Universe, Zack Snyder himself voiced his support for the character last week on a radio station in Detroit:

"I don’t want to give anything away about the movie or anything like that but Aquaman has some cool abilities. People are like, "Oh what? Does he talk to animals? Cause that seems like what he does. Or fish?" The cool thing with Aquaman is his Trident. So you have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact. That’s a thing that’s in the canon," Snyder said.

Aquaman first appeared in DC Comics in 1941 and is a founding member of the Justice League of America. According to The Verge, the studio is planning to shoot “Justice League” after it completes “Batman v. Superman.”
