There is a new hockey voice in the Bay Area.
The San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL announced earlier this week that Jason Lockhart will be the team’s Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting. Lockhart will serve as the team’s play-by-play announcer when it begins its inaugural season in October.
“Jason’s passion, dedication and love for hockey are going to be a huge asset for our team,” Bulls President and Head Coach Pat Curcio said. “We are excited to have him on board and are sure the fans will love him too.”
Lockhart spent the last two seasons as the play-by-play announcer for the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. Prior to the Crunch, Lockhart served as the Manager of Media and Community Relations for the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.
“I’m extremely excited to hit the ground running with the Bulls,” Lockhart said. “Working with a new team from the ground up is a great opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. I look forward to working side by side with Pat and the rest of the Bulls staff.”
Lockhart began his professional career with the New York Islanders. The New York City native worked for three years as the Islanders’ Website/Publications Coordinator. Lockhart began working in the field as an intern for hockey broadcasting legend Stan “The Maven” Fischler.
Lockhart also served four years as the play-by-play broadcaster for the men’s ice hockey team at Middlebury College in Vermont.
The Bulls will play a 72-game schedule, with home games played at the Cow Palace.
