Bethenny Frankel assured fans that the split from Jason Hoppy would be amicable and both she and Jason wanted what was best for their daughter, Bryn. On Jan. 25, Reality Tea reported that the Frankel/Hoppy divorce has taken a nasty turn now that Jason has filed his own divorce petition, telling Bethenny she will end up just like her mother Bernadette Birk.
In her divorce filing Frankel asked for full custody of the couple’s daughter, two-year-old Bryn, as well as child support, and ownership of the couple’s $5 million NYC apartment. Hoppy responded to Bethenny’s divorce petition with one of his own, demanding the exact same things Frankel asked for in her petition. Hoppy also believes that Frankel "emotionally cheated on him" with one of her Skinnygirl colleagues during their almost three year marriage.
Sources close to Bethenny say that Jason is fed up with Frankel’s “media pandering” and “retaliated by hitting her where it hurts the most” by comparing Bethenny to her mother Bernadette Birk.
A source close to Frankel says, “Jason and Bethenny have been arguing incessantly and the divorce is definitely turning nasty.”
“Jason knows the subject of Bethenny’s mom is a trigger for her emotionally – she is always saying that she doesn’t want to end up like her [Bernadette Birk] and she [Bethenny Frankel] views her with nothing but disdain – she sees her as sad and lonely and isolated from the rest of the world.”
Not only has Jason taken shots at Bethenny by comparing her to Bernadette Birk, but he has allegedly warned Frankel that she is “destroying” her relationship with Bryn.
“Jason told Bethenny that if she isn’t careful Bryn could grow up to despise her, just like Bethenny does with her own mother!” a source claims. “There is no doubt it really hit a hot spot, Bethenny was hysterically yelling at Jason saying he hit below the belt.”
Reality Tea thinks the entire story “reeks of Bethenny’s team planting stories” about Jason to make him look bad, saying, “This is totally something Bethenny’s fans would react to and make them feel sorry for their little skinnygirl.”
