The next meeting of Writers on the River takes place Monday, January 20, in Corvallis OR. The featured speaker is Portland author and writer's coach Jason Brick who will talk about How to Build Your Writing Platform in 12 months.
What is a platform? What does it consist of? Why is it important for every writer to have one? Jason will address all these questions during the first part of his talk. He will then dive into detailed, month-by-month instructions on how to make yours happen. Whether you write fiction for pleasure, articles to support your business or nonfiction to pay the rent, this is one presentation that will help make 2014 your best year ever!
Jason Brick worked in the martial arts industry for ten years. He learned about business documentation, press releases, marketing, and internet publishing while running a kenpo karate academy. Now he writes full time and coaches others who want to do the same. His new book Mastering the Business of Writing: How to Earn a Full-Time Living as a Writer was just released this month. He is also co-founder of SEOWiSE which is a training course that "teaches writers how to leverage what they're best at--writing--to promote their work."
Writers on the River meets the third Monday of each month from 6:30-8:30 pm in Dennis Hall at the First Presbyterian Church in Corvallis OR. The church is located at 114 SW 8th Street. This meeting is free and open to the public. All writers--whether fiction, nonfiction, or freelance--are strongly urged to attend!
