On Aug. 29, Examiner got the chance to speak to Jason Boland of Jason Boland & The Stragglers. Jason and his group will be performing at the Medicine Stone Festival which is coming to Tahlequah, Okla. This three day event has a great line up and will happen Sept. 12-14.
Jason Boland & The Stragglers and Turnpike Troubadours are the two groups behind the idea of this festival. They plan to make it a yearly event that will happen around the same time. The lineup could change each year, but both of these groups will be returning each year.
The Medicine Stone Festival will give fans a great stage show at night with some acoustic sets going on throughout the day. Jason felt like this group of friends were long overdue to get to play together again. His group is playing the same night as Stoney Larue and also Cody Canada & The Departed. Jason says that you can expect some great collaborations to happen between the groups each night.
His musical influence when he first started playing the Stillwater bar scene was Tom Skinner. He was doing the same thing in the area, but at a higher level. Todd Synder, who will also be playing at the Medicine Stone Festival, was also a great influence on him.
Jason is enjoying the married life and has a new house in Austin with his wife. She will be on part of the west coast tour with him. The group is staying busy on tour, writing music, and should be back in the studio again next summer.
Don't miss Jason Boland & The Stragglers at the Medicine Stone Festival Sept. 12-14. They will be on the stage for at least two hours, headlining, and having a great time with fans.
