Jason Bateman (“Arrested Development”) has seen his star on the rise over the past few years starring in smash hits like “Horrible Bosses,” and now he has “Identity Thief” coming out. He isn't one to wait around for something to happen so he has already lined up his next project: “Game Night.”
The ensemble comedy was purchased by New Line Cinema from Mark Perez (“Accepted”).
According to Deadline yesterday, the premise centers on a group of couples who have regular get-togethers to play games, but one deadly night turns into a murder mystery.
The dark comedy is said to be tonally similar to “Horrible Bosses” which is always good news; you can never have too many dark comedies.
Bateman will be co-producing the film so he is likely to get some relatively big names (in comedy at least) to fill in the other roles, and the film should hit theaters next summer.
