Jason Aldean has been named the most downloaded male country digital artist in history according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
All Access Music reported on Monday that since the inception of the RIAA’s GOLD and Platinum awards, Jason Aldean has received a total of 21.5 million certifications for downloads and on-demand streams.
To put it in perspective, every one of Jason Aldean’s songs save one has been certified either Gold or Platinum since his first single “Hicktown” in 2005. In regard to digital downloads, he has been more successful than even top CMA and ACM award-winners Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney and George Strait.
Helping to boost Jason Aldean’s total digital sales is his latest track “Burnin’ It Down” from his upcoming album by the same name. According to CMT, the single sold over 183,000 copies in is first week. “Burnin’ It Down” has also bolted to the top of Billboard’s Digital Songs Chart, sitting at #1 in its first week. The debut is impressive in its own right as the Digital Songs Chart covers multiple genres, but it also garners merit for bumping the popular song “Rude” by MAGIC! from the top position.
Jason Aldean’s career reached a turning point with the release of his fourth album “My Kinda Party.” The album was certified Platinum three times over, having brought forth such hits as the GRAMMY-nominated duet with Kelly Clarkson “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” the country-rap mix “Dirt Road Anthem,” and the pride in country anthem “Fly Over States” in addition to the title track. The My Kinda Party Tour was so popular that Jason Aldean extended it over two years.
Since that time, Jason Aldean has continued his hot streak with his fifth album “Night Train,” which racked up another five top ten hits, including the ACM Vocal Event of the Year winner “The Only Way I Know” featuring Luke Bryan and Eric Church.
Jason Aldean’s forthcoming sixth album is expected to be just as successful if not more so than his previous two. The lead single “Burnin’ It Down” has already exceeded expectations and given Jason Aldean a pretty sure foothold before the album has even released. Jason Aldean’s sixth album is expected to drop before the end of the year.
