Jarrett resigns from TNA Wrestling

Nashville's TNA Wrestling loses one of it's founders today.

Jeff Jarrett announced on his official Twitter and on his Facebook account the following:

"On December 22nd, 2013 I officially resigned from TNA Entertainment. Thanks to everyone involved for all the fantastic memories! #grateful".

Jarrett and his father Jerry Jarrett started the company in 2002 in Nashville with their first show in Huntsville, Alabama. TNA Wrestling, also called Impact Wrestling, had been a staple at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds until they moved television tapings to Orlando, Florida. Jarrett remained President of the company until Panda Energy International picked up the company. He would remain the Vice President of the company after the Carter Family of Panda Energy picked up over seventy percent of the company when Dixie Carter became the President of the company.

Jarrett would be on top of the company holding the NWA World Heavyweight title on six different occasions, while TNA Wrestling was affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance. He would also win the King of the Mountain match twice. He has been working off screen since 2011.

Jeff Jarrett has also held championships throughout his tenure in wrestling including: WWE Intercontential Champion six times, WWE Tag Team Champion, WCW World Heavyweight Champion, WCW United States Champion, and several titles at the USWA including the USWA Heavyweight Championship.

TNA Wrestling announced the following with the departure of Jeff Jarrett on their website:

"TNA Entertainment, LLC announced today that it has accepted Mr. Jeff Jarrett’s resignation from the company effective January 6th, 2014. Dixie Carter, President, commented “On behalf of TNA, we would like to thank Jeff for his contributions to the Company. We wish him the very best and look forward to his continued participation as an investor in TNA Wrestling."
