Left tackle Jared Veldheer is back in action after missing a few months of action with the Oakland Raiders due to a triceps injury that required reconstructive surgery. His contract is up after this season is over. Should the Oakland Raiders keep Veldheer?
It was reported on Tuesday that Jared Veldheer wants to remain an Oakland Raiders and has hopes to go 4-0 for the rest of this season.
The report states that Veldheer and the Raiders are talking for a new contract. Veldheer is an important piece for the Raiders and his absence has been missed this season. The Raiders had to readjust to his absence, and it has been costly.
Jared Veldheer came back last game against the Dallas Cowboys and did a great job at protecting McGloin. Quarterback Matthew McGloin was never sacked against the Cowboys even though the Raiders lost the game.
When Veldheer was out, quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who started the season, was sacked plenty of times even with his elusive skills.
It’s quite early to tell if Jared Veldheer will be the same as he was; afterall, he has only played one game after the recovery.
In the end, the Oakland Raiders will really have to wait how Veldheer performs for the rest of the season with his new teammates to see if he should sign a new contract.
