Jared Spector focuses on a fine CD, with a little help from lots of friends

We all can use a little help from our friends.
I had no idea that Jarrod Spector had such close chums as Billy Joel, Enrico Caruso, Little Richard, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and Bono---the friendly folk whose music inspired Spector's A Little Help From My Friends: Live At 54 Below (Broadway Records). The CD was taped live at Jarrod’s 54 Below concerts on March 10, 23 and 24.
“Putting together this show and album affected me in a deep and profound way,” Spector says. The album features music from artists required exhaustive research. In researching this album, I was immersed in the music of these venerated artists whom I’ve adored my whole life. After portraying one man [Frankie Vallie] for 1,500 performances with Jersey Boys, I was haunted by identity fears. Being able to delve into the repertoire of other artists helped quell them. I now feel a sense of fraternity with these artists.”
Adds Van Dean, co-founder of Broadway Records: “Jarrod is a truly gifted performer with an astonishing range and A Little Help From My Friends is a worthy addition to our ever-expanding Live at 54 Below series. This recording is the 25th we have released since starting the label in 2012 and is a fitting way to welcome Jarrod to the Broadway Records family.”
Not bad at all . . . Jared joins Studio 54 Below CD by Patti LuPone, Norbert Leo Butz, Christiane Noll, Andrea McArdle and Bebe Neuwirth.
Cheers, Jared!
