A video circulating this week shows how far a Japanese game show will go to get a laugh.
Dangerous Minds posted a video on Tuesday of a Japanese variety show with a terrifying prank. In the video, a man walks into an office building, but is greeted to a giant fake dinosaur instead of his coworkers.
The man screamed and cursed down the hallway until cameras emerged and he realized it wasn’t real.
Reddit user EunBuL posted the video on August 27 , which sparked a debate on whether or not the reaction was real.
“In Japan, having fake reactions is very normal on television, and most people know it. In fact, there are even comedians(Most famous being a trio called Dacho Club) that specializes on "fake"(but funny) reactions,” user aal780555 said in the thread on the topic.
The reaction from the man has him screaming and running, with him at one point falling backwards and cursing at the faux T-Rex.
Another video shows the crew scaring cross-dressing choreographer Eiji Kabashima, or Kaba-chan, with the dinosaur while he is dressed in high heels, a skirt and a blonde wig.
Other users on Reddit speculated that the clip is from the show London Hearts, which features celebrities, pranks and other segments that are popular in Japan.
