The Japanese Friendship Garden has recently expanded and is now open to show off a new look.
Located in the heart of Balboa Park, the Japanese Friendship Garden has opened its newly expanded seven acres to the public this weekend. Growing from 2.5 acres to 7, this beautiful and tranquil garden welcomes everyone to visit and unwind. The new expansion includes a new pond, waterfall and plenty of open space to explore and enjoy.
As described on their website, the elements of a Japanese Garden include stones, water, plants and trees arranged in such a way to create balance for meditation, enjoyment and enrichment in many forms. The goal of the multi-phase project is to provide a great cultural element to Balboa Park, "incorporating the highest principles, values, and traditions of the art of the Japanese Garden.
The Japanese Friendship Garden has an attraction for every visitor. Whether it be the koi pond, a garden tour, the bonsai collection, arts or education, there is definitely something to be enjoyed by all. The tranquil and welcoming environment provided by this Balboa Park attraction makes the area irresistible if even for a short visit. Visitors are invited to enjoy a kettle of their favorite tea while walking through the beautiful sanctuary.
