Japanese dialect workshops brought to you by the Japan-America Society of DFW

Specifically for intermediate to advanced Japanese language speakers, DFW residents are offered the opportunity to participate in dialect workshops throughout the month of August brought to you by the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth.  Dialects are the vocabulary or specific language usage of a particular group of people.  Since Japan is made up of many different islands the people of those different regions have developed unique forms of dialects.

Wednesday, August 4th Workshop

Starting tonight from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, in Dallas learn the Hokkaido dialect with Fumiko Coburn, a resident of DFW originally from Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido.

Registration can be done online! or by calling 214-342-2022 and the cost is $25 for non-members of JASDFW and $15 for members.  All classes and workshops are held a the JASDFW office located at 11615 Forest Central Dr., Suite 206, Dallas, TX 75243

Upcoming Session

On August 11 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM learn Kyushu dialect by Kazuko Scott, a professional translator and a native of Fukuoka prefecture.  She will teach a specific dialect of her area. Speakers of Chikugo-ben hail from the southern region of the prefecture.
