Japan's nuclear crisis update

The national crisis Japan is facing is one of the worst in history. As of April 20th, 2011, it is considered the second worst nuclear disaster, only to that of Chernobyl.  It has been considered a level 7 nuclear disaster that is still leaking radiation into the environment at an alarming rate. One major difference between the Chernobyl nuclear crisis and Japan’s situation is the way the toxins are entering the environment.  In the Chernobyl accident toxins were release into the air and in Japan’s reactor meltdown the toxins are leaking into the ocean waters.

In an attempt to return to normality, Disney has opened the doors after the March 11th tsunami and nuclear disaster force them to shutdown. The affect the nuclear crisis will have on tourism during this normally busy season is incredible. The government of Japan has been urged to reassure the world that the nuclear crisis is under control and that it is safe to visit the mainland.

All of the commerce, life, property, and ecological stability lost in this eye-opening nuclear crisis update has not undermined the value of nuclear power, according to The Canadian Press. The head of the international Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano stated “many countries will continue to find nuclear power an important option for energy diversification but that the global community must do its utmost to ensure its safety.” Seems like the only “safe” place is in outer space!
