Typically, the turn of the new year brings a renewed hope for change and success. For some pro-wrestlers, January was just that. Unfortunately for others, it signaled a dismal beginning to 2012. According to a Wednesday February 1st report by PWInsider.com, January 2012 saw both Brodus Clay and Daniel Bryan successful while The Miz and Drew McIntyre suffer through winless droughts.

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan went 5-1-2 in the month of January and successfully retained his title at the Royal Rumble PPV against Mark Henry and The Big Show in a triple threat steel cage match. Additionally, he defeated Cody Rhodes, The Big Show via DQ, Kofi Kingston and CM Punk via DQ. His only loss came via way of DQ when Jericho walked out on him and Punk in 6 man-tag match and Foley replaced Jericho.
Brodus Clay made his long awaited return to WWE TV after months of hype. He shocked the WWE Universe by unveiling his Funkasaurus gimmick. However, Clay has gone undefeated in the month of January at 7-0. He has danced all over the following victims: Hawkins, Tyson Kidd, JTG, Heath Slater, Alex Riley, McIntyre and Tyler Reks. Let's also not forget that he squashed William Regal in an impromptu dance contest also.

January was a difficult month for The Miz and Drew McIntyre. The Miz went 0-3-1 by losing to R-Truth twice and Kingston this past week on RAW. He wrestled Sheamus to a NC on January 2nd. As for McIntyre, he's lost every match and is constantly threatened of being fired by Teddy Long on SmackDown. Drew went 0-5 in January after losing to Stantino twice, Ted DiBiase Jr., Sheamus and Brodus Clay.
In TNA, both Matt Morgan and Crimson were 3-0 while top heels Bully Ray and TNA world champion Robert Roode were winless. Bully Ray went 0-2-1 while Roode went 0-2-2. Roode lost to Hardy via DQ and in a tables match with Ray against Hardy and James Storm. Ray's other loss was to Abyss in a monster's ball match.
