January Jamboree 2014 is this Saturday

Rabbit shows are an excuse to socialize for hours while enjoying rabbits.

It’s January, which means it’s time for the annual January Jamboree rabbit show this Saturday at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa.

Judging begins at 8:30 a.m. for a full day of rabbit showing – double open and double youth ARBA sanctioned shows. With over 20 sanctioned breeds, there will be quite a lot to see, both people and rabbits.

KW Cages will be the show vendor, which means there will be shopping opportunities to purchase not only a wide variety of rabbits from top breeders, but travel and housing accommodations for your rabbits as well. KW Cages also sells other hard-to-find rabbit items such as springs for water bottles and tattoo equipment.

Whether it’s your 1st show or your 50th, rabbit shows are fantastic places to socialize as well as learn more about rabbits in general and as a hobby. With 10 judges on hand, there is a lot of experience to go around, especially from the more verbose judges who make shows a wonderful educational experience.

The Green Valley 4-H Club is hosting a food booth with lunch and snack items at reasonable prices.

Other events hosted at the fairgrounds Saturday include the Bay Team Dog Agility Competition from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the 12th annual California Deer Association Banquet at 4:30 p.m., so if you’d like to branch out from the rabbit show, dog agility may offer a nice change of pace (besides, admission is free!).

Parking for exhibitors is free in the “Redwood Lot” on Brookwood Avenue (Gate 4) for entry between 7-9:00 a.m.
