Many may not be aware that January is Unchain a Dog Month. Freedom Fences, which is a 501(c)3 organization, invites everyone interested to get involved.
Those not familiar with Freedom Fences, or other groups working to better the lives of dogs living while chained 24/7 may enjoy knowing there are groups fighting to make a difference. Volunteers do the work needed.
The following details are from the Facebook page for Freedom Fences:
Did you know that January is UNCHAIN A DOG MONTH??? VOLUNTEER MEETING THIS Sunday at 2 pm AND Tuesday at 6 pm. Both meetings are at Panera Bread in Anderson, SC. If you are interested in learning more about us, or want to volunteer, PLEASE consider coming out. We need your ideas, input, and help! There is something for everyone and 2013 is going to be AWESOME. Special "gift" for all that attend! email freedomfences@gmail.com
More reasons for not chaining a dog are listed on many sites. However, because it is not possible for every owner of a dog to fence an area for their dog, chained dog issues continue to be a concern.
Groups such as Freedom Fences and Coalition to Unchain Dogs exist to help dogs gain freedom from chains. Those interested in volunteering or in making a donation to any group that helps animals escape their chains will find details to do so on the sites linked in this article.
