January cat show in Monroe

The Midwest Persian Tabby Fanciers cat club has announced that its 52nd Cat Fanciers Association show will be held at Monroe County Community College in the Gerald Welch Health Education Building on Sat. Jan. 25 and Sun. Jan. 26. 225 cats are expected to register for the show. Breeds represented include American Shorthairs, Japanese Bobtails, Maine Coons, Orientals, Persians, Ragdolls, Russian Blues, Sphynx, Tonkinese, and many others. There will also be a household pet division for nonpedigreed cats.

Judges for the two-day show include Anne Mathis, Ellyn Honey, Gene Darrah, Jeri Zottoli, Jim Thompson, John Hiemstra, Karen Godwin, Kathy Calhoun, Loretta Baugh, Rachel Anger, Sharon Powell, and Teresa Sweeny.

The Gerald Welch Health Education Building is located on the campus of Monroe County Community College at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. in Monroe. The MPTF cat show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $4 for children aged 6-12. Children under age 6 are admitted free.
